This is a petition to FREE RODNEY SIEH, The Publisher of the FrontPage Africa newspaper, who was put behind bars at the Monrovia Central Prison on 21 August 2013. The sum of $US 375,000 was the bail bond that Sieh could not afford. He was not able to say when he could pay the balance of $US 1.5 million in damages in a case of libel from 2010. After hours of a standoff between police and sympathizers, he was finally taken to the Central Prison under a huge police escort.
On 20 August, the Civil law Court ordered Sieh's arrest in a bid to enforce the ruling of the Supreme Court which was the payment of $1.5 million in damages to former Agriculture Minister Chris Toe. The paper claimed that its offices were searched in the days preceding the eventual incarceration of Sieh.
Reaching this level of support feels heavy given the reality of the cell walls at Monrovia Central Prison. I am exhausted by this fight but seeing this momentum reminds me that we are not the only ones who see the injustice here.

Libel case or not that fine is insane. Nobody can pay that its just a way to shut down the press.

They want to bury him because he poked the bear. Nobody should be in prison over money like this.

This is nothing but a plot to silence the truth. Rodney is doing a service for this country and he should be free right now.
