Melissa is a really sweet and kind hearted person who made a mistake. She once helped my mother when she went off the road in a snow storm. My father had just passed away and my mother was inconsolably distraught. While several trucks passed by not caring enough to pull over and help, Melissa in her Mini Cooper pulled over to help. Melissa was out on bail/bond with all her own worries and problems on her plate and she still had the heart to help a person in need. Using her professional skills and her kind heart, she helped my mother pull herself together to be able to make the necessary phone calls to receive help and stayed with her until that help arrived. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for helping my mom. All those people passed her by, but not Melissa. We are all multifaceted individuals. Nobody is just one thing. We need to look at the individual as a whole and not by one action. I’m sure she is very sorry for this mistake and not one she would make again. Health care in the prison system is next to non-existent. There is a difference between doing time and reviewing the health care that we all deserve and doing time and having ones health and sanity fall apart from lack of appropriate care. Everyone makes mistakes. Most people just don’t get caught. That’s the only difference between most people.

Malissa Schonfield has done so much for so many, and asks nothing in return. I,too, have experienced her kind words and support. I feel she has served her time, and has probably helped countless inmates along the way. And seriously, if they can’t provide proper medical care, she should be released. She used poor judgment and openly admitted she did so. Let’s move forward and put the past behind us.

I live in pillar point and had never met this woman, In Feb of 2015 my husband had just passed away a few days before I met her,, long story short I was filled with greif and a lot of tears and driving home I put my vehicle in a ditch along side the road on county rt 59 just outside the village, I was panicking and couldn't even use my cell phone, many men in big trucks drove by me, at least 4 I would say,not one stopped to help, it had been storming, all of a sudden a vehicle stopped, I think a Mini Cooper , a woman knocked on my window and ask if I were ok, it was obvious I were a train wreck, so she got in the car and sat with me and helped me reach my son who came to assist me, that woman was so kind and soft spoken and calmed me right down like an angel that night.. Later I realized who she was as I had heard the story,, I believe she has a very good heart to stop and help a stranger in the middle of a storm at night knowing there wasn't much she could do to help push the jeep out of the ditch, but she offered what she could until help arrived .. I never judge anyone ever.. And I've told this story of her character to many people when this has come up in local conversation over the last 3 years...Big men in big trucks ,, whatever,, Big heart in a Mini Cooper ❤️

All are prison systems need a big change and I'm glad somebody standing up to them and showing that they're not giving inmates proper care and just because they have broke the law don't mean that they can withhold Medical Care for medical treatment or treat them like animals some people make mistakes

Melisa should never have been incarcerated for this long, she is not a threat to society, she was only trying to help her family. There are others in our society who have done far worse and not treated this badly!!! Free her!!

From the moment I knew of this case, and knowing the family, I have always said no one knows what one is capable of when a loved one, especially an innocent child, is in harms way....I understand it was wrong, but I also understand the maternal instinct and I realize any one of us could snap at any time....Ms.Schonfield is certainly not a threat to society....
