They have free wifi in cafes, fast food places, even the streets of yaletown in Vancouver has free wifi. It can be a huge comfort to those stuck in hospital beds, so it should be free access!!

I'm part of the healthcare team at a hospital in BC and it breaks my heart when people are there long term and have limited access to entertainment in the long, long days.

I have spent a lot of time in hospital as one can not leave the elderly there without a constant advocate. Would be great to comminicate with family, stay in tough with work and friends and for entertainment.

There is free Wifi in many places and for some it may be their only way of keeping in touch with others while they are in the hospital. For some, having access to the internet may make their stay more bearable. Honestly is there any good reason not to have it in the hospitals?

I am a frequent hospital patient for lung infections related to my Cystic Fibrosis. Free Wi-Fi will help me to recover and allow me to keep up with work, family and my cystic fibrosis support group when I need them most.

Why should only certain privileged employees of VIHA have access to the internet. As a bedside RN I see many patients paying hundreds of dollars for their TV and room phone. Many patients have length of stays a month or longer. I believe our PATIENTS and ALL STAFF should have access to free internet while in the hospital.

This is so needed! I think it is almost offensive we don't have this kind of access to information and entertainment.

Sometimes stay for months in the hospital, wifi at least allows some connection to the outside world! It also helps facilitate communicating with famillies to update them. Free wifi is an amazing improvement on patient life, a small thing like that can make such a differnece!

Knowing a friend was isolated and in palliative care encouraged me to put credit in his account for Wi-Fi provided to the Vancouver General through a American company. Unreal.

In this day and age it is hard to believe we need to do this. It should be automatic.
