My son is a dialysis patient and he goes 4 days a week for up to 5 hrs. a day.
There has been several times when he has been admitted to hospital for up to 2 weeks at a time with complications sometimes. On one occasion he was watching a movie on his phone, fell asleep without turning off the video and ended up with a data overage charge of $500.

Time goes as fast as a slug when in hospital giving you more time to worry an stress, wifi is something that would really help patients pass the time, and relax.

Crazy, negligent, self-serving, ignorant, stupid, ridiculous, pin-head parental and archaic Puritan crap that needs to be legislated out of the hospital administrators controlling and belittling, narrow mandates.

When you are stuck in a hospital bed for days, no connection to the outside world can be incredibly mind-numbing. Just to be able to read emails, download an ebook, or stay caught up on news headlines can be a real morale-booster.

WiFi in hospitals would make it possible to keep family and friends who are far away updated on the patient's condition. It would make it possible to look up things the Dr has said that the patient or family didn't understand, and it would be possible for the patient to have face to face conversations with loved ones who care about them. And lastly, it would give the patient things to do to distract them from his they're getting, and therefore promote faster healing!

I would love there to be free Internet at the hospitals! It would make the wait a lot less daunting! Plz make the hospitals have free internet

People that have chemo treatments would benefit from getting their mind off of their illness while at the hospital by using their phone etc to enjoy family videos or watching a tv show.

Without a doubt this should be allowed. Anybody who is on extended stay in a hospital should be able to have communication with the outside world at no cost to them.

The mental well being of patients is important too. Internet access provides much needed distractions and access to your friends and family.

I've been to a few hospitals that provide wifi (Prince Rupert and Trail) and the ability to connect quickly to others online is insanely beneficial. This should be something available in all hospitals in Canada

With a chronically ill child, we spend large chunks of each year in hosputal. Being able to watch movies on Netflix or work online while in hosputal would reduce the physical & financial stress our family inccurs with every hospital stay.

I can relate to this. I spent 16 days in Cowichan District Hospital with no Wi Fi. To communicate with my wife who was out of country at the time I had to use my personal data plan. I happened to watch four (4) Netflix movies while I was in there and my data plan was bill an extra $400.00.

I also use the internet for my work. My daughter went in for a day surgery a few months back and I lost a $100 worth of business because I didn’t have internet access.

As a mom of a child with complex medical conditions we spend a lot of time in hospitals and wifi would help us stay connected with family as well as providing entertainment for our child
