Can't believe this isn't standard in a modern country like Canada. Gobsmacked at the price of wifi packages in general. In the UK cheap basic packages of unlimited data are available for low income families which can be used with unlimited devices. And all public places have free wifi. Simply can't get my head around how all the internet providers are so obviously ripping their customers off. Shameful. :(

Wifi significantly impacts patient's quality of care, recovery, and ability to connect with loved ones. Wifi has become a standard feature of modern life and should be included at the hospital where patient centered care is supposedly a priority.

I am a volunteer with Patient Voices Network. Every chance I get I remind the health system that having free Wifi available in hospitals and long term care facilities is essential. As a patient myself, and as a family caregiver, I can assure you that nowadays, having access to the internet is essential.

As a parent of a small child that’s had to spend weeks & months in the hospital stuck in the room (party cuz my child is so young & so I need to be with my lil one all the time & partly cuz a lot of the time we are in isolation) not having access to wifi is torture!! It’s stressful being in hospital with ur child or even as an adult that’s been admitted and to not have wifi access to be able to reach out to loved ones & stay in touch this way, to have video convos, to be able to surf the web or watch some Netflix’s etc as a welcome distraction from the stress, worry, isolation & even depression from the time spent in hospital with ur child is so cruel to not have wifi for all when staying in any BC hospital!!! It’s a must!!! Wifi needs to happen in all BC hospitals ASAP!!!

I am a Renal Patent so spend 15 hours a week at Royal Jubilee Hospital. Every staff member has wifi access. All they need to do is give us a username and password - I do not understand where the cost is. The service is already there.

It's well over time that there was wifi for patients and guests etc to use at the hospitals. Try being stuck in a bed with no access to Netflix, Twitter etc to help pass the time. It's awful! Let's make this happen!

It will make your stay a little easier. Any way to help pass ease the time at very little cost should be a no brainer.

My husband spent 9-1/2 months in a Calgary hospital where were 2 PCs in a common area. This was helpful but not ideal as it meant that I had to leave my hospital in isolation to check/send emails. More helpful would have been hospital-wide moble device access so he could access the internet when I was unable to be there. This is a great idea!
