I believe The recantation of a star informant witness should be enough new evidence to acquire a new trial for Evaristo Salas Jr. we cannot continue to throw innocent people in jail for life and simply throw away the key. A man should have every opportunity to prove his innocence until there is no other recourses. For heavens sake...this is supposed to be America!!

I remember this case and I was appalled at the time that with NO direct evidence and even with the witness from the store where Salas was at the time of the shooting, not only was E Salas convicted but that he was tried as an adult. After hearing all the evidence they learned from the “Wrong Man” series I was completely convinced that E Salas is ABSOLUTELY INNOCENT.

This kid was sent to prison for no reason. The cop lied, & needs to be charged. It's cops like this one that handled this kids case, it's the reason people have trusting them He's a bad cop!!! This kid was innocent at 15, & got wrongfully convicted based on a lie. He needs to be let go!!!

I pray all who are involved that they tell the truth and allow this man to go free. Side note* If you give that Jose's son a DNA test, I bet that he's Ricardo's son. Also that detective was trying to make his first case. There was a great mishandling, lies and cover ups. This sad but they need to have another look at this case.

They use evidence to convict a person and now there’s evidence against them and it’s not admissible. Yet, the informant was enough evidence to get him convicted and now he’s recanting and exposing them for who they are and not everything is biased and he was rightfully convicted. The perception they would have if he goes to a retrial and wins is what they’re fighting against and they don’t and won’t under all the powers they have let that happen

How do we keep abusing people who are innocent using our legal system? It is time to send the perpetrators of these crimes to prison for the same period of time that innocent people spend in prison, maybe then these rush to prosecution cases will stop.

At the very least a new trial should be awarded. The officer and all of his past cases involving informants should be investigated. Evidence was destroyed when the truck where the murder happened was released before forensics took place. Whiteness say Salas was in another place at the same time as the murder and also that an older/larger man fired the shots. The actions of the victims wife should be looked into. She should be a suspect again! This is another Ryan Ferguson and complete ruin of a young persons life.
