He is as much to country music as any other performer. He was an icon of country music that touched so many in the 70's through out his career and life and is still as strong now. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't put him in the Country Music Hall of Fame, being bilingual he crossed so many different cultures, ages and was the King of Tex-Mex, he open a lot of doors, and he was the beginning, before Selena, he open the way for so many like her.

I saw Freddy in concert in '75 and Mel Tillis opened for him. I'm from Tennessee, and Freddy Fender belongs in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

FF had one of those great voices like Willie Nelson doing both standards and great Spanish traditionals....his voice alone and his many years alone deserve the CM Hall of Fame award. I saw him perform. He was an Original.
