Franklinton Advocacy Alert! STOP McDowell St. Church DEMOLITION

I support saving the church at 79 McDowell Street! Columbus has a number of beautiful churches in the urban neighborhoods that need to be restored and given a new life as anchors in their neighborhoods. There is too much disregard for older structures that show the chronological progress of the growth of Columbus. This doesn't show "smart thinking" Columbus.

Every apartment community needs common community space. Incorporating this historic church into the new development world be a perfect opportunity to provide a unique asset to the community and help market it!

SAVE. THIS. CHURCH!

Demolishing significant architectural history is selfish and near-sighted . It’s easy to build flat boring architecturally insignicant buildings. Do the right thing and find a way to save this church. Talented people can think outside the box!

Please save this building there is so much potential for reuse of its spaces and the historical value is immeasurable.

Once gone these gems cannot be replicated, please do not destroy our history!

We need to keep more buildings like this, not replace them.

Because you never get historic structures back. Build them into the plan. They are what makes a city special.

Thank goodness Venice Italy and other European cities didn't demolish their beautiful architecture.

We have lost to many beautiful old buildings in Columbus due to developer’s greed. Not one more!

Important piece of history and Columbus culture. We should celebrate it and re-integrate it into our urban culture, instead of tearing it down.

People who never grew up in the bottoms will never know the true meaning of survival and family. There is lots of memories from a lot of people here.

There are so many wonderful ways to repurpose this beautiful church! It could serve as a community/welcome center; arts studio & store; music studio & concert hall; or a restaurant. Columbus needs to incorporate historic buildings into new development by repurposing the buildings and not allowing developers to tear down historic buildings.

Save the church!

Thoughtful development is needed, not blatant erasure of whatever is currently standing. Save this church, incorporate it as an outstanding feature of a new development, rather than something "standing in the way." People want authenticity and rich variety in their environment. This is a great opportunity to save the church and make it a huge bonus, incorporated into whatever development occurs.

I was under the impression this area was going through a revitalization and historic buildings were being renovated, not being leveled and rezoned for something completely different.

Save the Church!
