Franklinton Advocacy Alert! STOP McDowell St. Church DEMOLITION

This is a beautiful building in a historic neighborhood and it is worth saving. Keeping this building will add to the beauty of the Franklinton Renaissance. It shouldn't need to be stated that saving this church and incorporating it into any design plans is the right thing to do. Thank you for saving this church!!!

On behalf of Land-Grant Brewing Company, we support the preservation of this historical building in our neighborhood. Our brewery currently occupies a former elevator factory built in 1920, and we are proud to have been able to rehab such a beautiful structure. We look forward to meeting the next occupants of this amazing church.

Save the church. Franklinton has so little original heritage.

With all of the land that is available to buy. Why tear something down that has a history of its own. I metal detect and save history lying beneath our feet . Can you imagine what these grounds could tell us.. Leave it be..

We must preserve history for our future generations. We are a young country, we shouldn’t destroy landmarks for new buildings, we won’t have anything left.

We need places to gather. Build around it.

This building is one of the only remaining historic structures in what we are trying as a city to rebuild. How could we even consider demolishing it??

Columbus has torn down too much of it's past. This building needs to be preserved.

This beautiful building is one of the few things that really makes the historic past of Franklinton obvious! It should be saved if possible!

Every bit of Historic Ohio needs to be saved and honored.

All new builds look alike, and do not have the beauty of an old beautiful building. Restoring is more sustainable then tearing down and which each reuse we can learn more and more!

Historic buildings add character and preserve a sense of place in old neighborhoods. How many cool old buildings are there in the cornfields around Blacklick or Hilliard? Save it!

Time for smarter, more sensitive & thoughtful development all over Columbus.

Please choose a path to preserve this beautiful church. Franklinton needs to preserve the remaining historic structures it has. It's sad it has so few remaining.

I was part of a team in 2016 that submitted an adaptive re-use proposal to spruce up the church and add on to the south, providing for multiple neighborhood-worthy uses. What happened to that and the RFP process??? And to boot - the Homeport proposal is in incredibly poorly-designed project. Terrible. Even in the case that they need to build on a budget and be mindful of the need for low income housing, it has nothing to offer the neighborhood with regard to scale, massing, and amenities. The design on its own should be totally re-conseived...and make honorable use of the existing church.

Please respect the historical significance of this holy structure.

Don’t destroy the very things that give Franklinton it’s Character.

Please consider new uses for this beautiful structure, and economic incentives such as historic tax crefits, HOME or possible "opportunity zone funds" coming available to some areas, as well as possible CBDG monies to make the rehabilitation not only feasible but advantageous!
