How do children get to school when many take the train to Boston by 7 am to get to work? High school sports going later than they already do? When does homework get done? We've been getting up at 5:45 a.m. since the children were 4 months old. They are in 9th grade now. We will still be rising at 5:45 a.m. and make adjustments to go to bed early as we are tired after a full day. So how will there be extra sleep? Maybe this works for the parents that are around town all day long and are the people making the decisions on these committees as the have time to spend on committees and the decision works for their few families? I went to the initial meeting with the superintendent and there were 8 people there total so why how could this be reflective of the thousands of parents? I've answered any surveys that I have seen and I don't believe I've seen all the surveys so I'm glad my children will be able to drive sooner rather than later as they will be sitting at the parking lot of the school before it opens and then be awake early anyway when they can drive to drop me off at the train.

I am a parent of twins who will be graduating this year. My twins have been fortunate to be a part of FHS Sports and because of that have shaped who they are in so many positive ways. This change will jeopardize these outstanding programs and our future athletes. I oppose this change.

This would negatively impact our family as a whole.

I am a parent of four children that all went/still attending FPS. They were/are fortunate enough to participate in FHS sports. Changing start times would jeopardize these great programs. I am opposed to the change.

This is a major change that affects many in our town but only benefits a few. While i support the science and agree that a later start time for HS may be ideal, i do not support the change to MS and ES students. I believe the proposal needs to be reworked but cannot stand as it is now.

I am against the change for elementary and middle school levels. I cannot make an educated decision today on saying yes for a change at the HS level until the public is made aware of ALL areas that the change would impact. I think more time is needed so that everything is considered..

The proposed new timings will not work for our family. We will be not be able to juggle with our work and kids schedules.
The current timings has been working very well for our family.

If the high school students want/need more sleep, then they should turn off their screens and go to bed an hour early each night.

Franklin voter, parent of elementary kids. I’m against this change. It seems to be solving 1 problem and creating 5 new problems.
Additionally, doesn’t having the gymnastics team practicing in the morning defeat the purpose of later start times? I understand it’s only 1 team, but still it’s not right.

This negatively impacts families already struggling to work and provide for children in Franklin. Sleep habit development should be the responsibility of parents.

This change does not need to happen. This change is not beneficial. Enough change!

Very much against this due to the methodology used in your research. You did not gather the all stakeholders , groups nor did you listen to their requirements and needs. Perhaps not your fault, perhaps guidance was lacking. The people must be heard and the brakes applied to this. Citizens at large must be heard

I currently work in a district where they changed the times and we have seen such a negative impact on the students. I am a counselor and some students have developed tardiness issues because they stay up later and then are so tired. It has really had a negative impact in our district.

Not sure when it became the public schools responsibility to regulate my child's sleep habits. This will have have too many negative consequences on the the children and parents of our community. Lack of sleep and cell phone usage problems need to be addressed at home, not by the school committee members.
