Franklin Residents Opposed to The Proposed School Start Time Change

Being a mother of four children, and a former teacher, I am 100% against the time change. Would we expect our jobs to give us s late start time? Are we going to expect surrounding times to wait for our children to start sporting events? My son plays Varsity Football. These boys will barely have time to breathe before jumping on s bus for their away games. My daughter dances on a competition team and practices at 4 pm sharp four days a week in Medway. This time change will affect so many families relying on their older siblings for after school care! I hope that Franklin Public Schools reconsiders.

Not for it. Definitely more time and information needed re: impact after school clubs, sports, etc.; survey to teachers; feedback from students. Then if proposed along with plans to handle issues, then put it out for the residents of Franklin to vote on. But saying issues that may arise can be resolved by doing before school or by early release, defeats the entire purpose.

The answer is not shuffling these times at the cost of so much extracurricular activities (which the kids direly need with shortened recess and teaching to the test environments). There's much more going on here than just a time shift and no one should expect the solution to be solved with a silver bullet of start time change. Dig more into this and start chipping away at the problem.

This proposal makes no sense. They did not consider all the impacts of this policy change.

We are moving to Franklin and looking forward to the earlier start time. We currently start school at 8:45. By the time we get home and do homework it's time for dinner shower and bed. I'm all for early start and earlier home.. would love to have time to play outside and do things before it gets dark out

I didn't mind a later start time for schools. I assumed it would be all schools. I am opposed to EARLIER start time for elementary schools. I also would not want change that would adversely affect clubs and sports.

Please do not disrupt the lives of the Franklin students and their families. The parents should decide when children sleep, not the school committee.

ASMS middle school homework is avg. 1.5 hours/night. This puts the kids at 5:00 before they can do anything else. I thought maybe a :30 minute shift might be good- this is way too big of a change with way too many complications.

It is up to us as parents to make sure our children get enough sleep not the school district. Leave the start times alone.

Im against everything!

The impact, especially to the middle schools with a 90 minute shift is extremely excessive and an unnecessary burden on the kids and families with no clear evidence of an improvement in productivity per the districts that have implemented similar changes. Further, choosing an option that was admittedly less aligned with the sleep study but more aligned with savings on buses clearly showed little attempt at actually trying to solve the supposed problem.

This Proposal is Ridiculous and would NOT at all benefit families with children Elementary to High School and would in fact be a BURDEN

I feel the change of school start times will negavtively impact MANY families.
