The start times need to be fair to all age groups.

School times are fine the way the are currently. After school activities:. Sports, clubs, etc would be negatively affected and they are necessary outlets for kids.

I did not see anywhere in the studies that took elementary aged children into consideration. This circadian clock in high school children, does it adjust for daylight savings or time zones? I truly believe high school children need more sleep but it does not need to be later in the morning at the expense of their younger siblings. We as a community need to stop letting others dictate what’s best for our children.

This decision should NOT be decided by only a few. This needs to be a public vote!

As a teacher and Franklin parent , I am against changing the school start times based on sleep studies for HS students. When a sleep expert agrees that it may not impact student learning , we need to look at this closely. Changing school times does not mean students are getting more sleep They will continue to use devices late at night Many students will still have to get up early for sports or to help the family
Middle schoolers may have to go to before school care with the later time - a financial burden for many families
Some HS students will leave school early for sports Teams will be cut
Middle schoolers left home on their own 2 hours in the morning because parents are working is a problem After school activities in middle school will also be a problem for teachers and students with prior commitments and there’s the possibility of loosing good teachers
More importantly.... look at how this will negatively affect so many families

Absolutely NO. This change will impact so many families financially that work and depend on their older children for childcare of the younger ones. This would be such a huge burden on the majority of families here in Franklin.
I vote no on the time change.
