I grew up in Fairfax.. I went to Fort Ridgely with the Boy Scouts for years. I learned to play golf on Fort Ridgely Sand Greens golf Course. I have been around the world with 20 years in the Army from 1964-1984. The DNR can not be allowed to close off one foot of Fort Ridgely's historic grounds. Let the Governor contact me and I will tell him about his DNR and OUR Ft. Ridgely.

DNA needs to do a better job of promoting the golf course in its promotional material. Why update the golf course and then destroy it. Sounds like the action Nels Hasselmo chose with the U of M campus at Waseca in the early 1990's.

The State always seems to find dollars for the metro parks, recreation. How about sending some dollars to rural Minnesota? Dollar for dollar per resident, I would be willing to bet more money is spent per city resident than rural residents!

I strongly support the efforts of the people to keep the Fort Ridgely State Park Golf Course in play for the benefit and enjoyment of the people in the southern counties of Minnesota. Surely, persons in high places of decision-making can rely on intelligent decision-makers of this area to implement resourceful ideas to fund and maintain this asset. This is a great opportunity for governmental decision-makers to return ownership to the people who know this Golf course and its offering of great times of refreshment, contact with nature, and fun for all ages.

My husband and I have many fond memories of golfing here. Our anniversaries many times consisted of golfing here and then going out for lunch. We had very limited means and this was our splurge to celebrate!

The Fort Ridgely State Park Golf Course is a valuable asset to the communities around it offering students, retirees and families to enjoy an activity that allows for competition, exercise and social interaction in a beautiful setting.
