To close this place does not make sense at all, one of the best golf courses in the arena. If you want make more money, allow golf carts and you will see the the extra money come in.

Things like this is what keeps kids out in nature. My 8th grade year we got to golf there and it was an experience I will never forget. It is a shame the young people of today will not get to experience the full effect of this park and what it has/used to have to offer. Sad day :(

Used to work here when I was 14 and grew up just 2 miles away. I don't think the DNR is doing the full math on how many campers may be coming here to camp and golf so some of the $ from the camping fees may be reduced if the course is closed.

The point of elections is so that we can choose how OUR tax dollars our spent. When those taxes are not spent according to the public's will, the people who made the unfavorable decisions are held accountable come election time. However, this is not the case with the DNR. It is preposterous that four unelected people who are completely uninvolved with Fort Ridgely can make such drastic decisions about what to do with OUR money. If we, the taxpayers, want to spend our money on maintaining a golf course, that's how it should be spent. DNR officials are not held accountable by the public; why should they get to make decisions for US they will never be held accountable for?
