I don't live in FD but I when I saw the winning entry I was confused that not only not local not same country. This should have been only open to local artist or at the very least Iowa artists. The winning pic just looks like a boring billboard. The one that should have won was bright colorful and fun to look at.

I feel this is something that should be done by a local person since we are fortunate enough to have the local talent. I also think his design depicts our town perfectly. The design from the Australian artist doesn't. I also don't approve of paying someone from another country to do this, especially when we can support a local artist.

The person should be a local artist and Josh's depicts all what fort dodge stands for. Not some artist who doesnt even live here. And the one that was chosen does not reflect all of the criteria that it was supposed to.

So glad someone started this petition. The Fort Dodge city council screwed up big time. Josh's design best depicts what FD is all about and it meets every single criteria listed in the application. The other artists design just doesn't meet the requirements and it doesn't make sense at all. I think they wanted the international artist from the get go! It's not fair! FD wants Josh! He won fair and square!

We as a community want our local artist to paint the silo...he who won...he who deserves it...why do we want an aussie to paint a picture of a man who doesn't mean anything to us or IOWA...

The picture of the face has absolutely no meaning to the city of fort dodge. Anyone who sees it will have a reaction of "what's that even spposed to be?". While I agree that the picture of landmarks is not very imaginative, it definitely reflects positively on the city and creates pride.
