Final supporters
With the recent announcement that the Australian artist "won" the council over, there has been a lot of talk about our very own local artist Josh Johnson, having what seemed the best piece, looked over. Joshs' design depicts exactly what Fort Dodge has been, is and will be, not faces of people with no names. Let us show the City of Fort Dodge we want to support our local artist and disagree with their decision

I just spent the last hour looking through the comments people are leaving and honestly it is so wild to see how many folks really connected with Josh's vision for the silos. It feels like the city council members are just plugging their ears at this point but they definitely cannot ignore the fact that we clearly prefer someone who actually knows our town's history over a total stranger.

The people of FD voted this to be the winner, however a committee decided otherwise.. why have a vote if we're going to be disregarded?! This painting depicts our community amazingly vs the other random sketch of random people. #supportlocalartists
I don't see why the city needs to spend so much money to have someone who doesn't know or care about this town to get the silo painted. When we wonderfully talented people right here that can do the job with love for this town in their heart.
The people have spoken!, Go Local and support Josh Johnson's vision. Has this aussie ever been to Ft. Dodge? If so, Why is the main image a coal miner?, Do they mine coal in Ft. Dodge? Enough outsourcing! Josh's painting is a beautiful and accurate depiction of Ft. Dodge.
I was born and raised in fort dodge and recently moved away since then everything Ive known has changed. I grew up in bobtown seeing these everyday josh's piece brought back so many memories for me. There is no longer the hydro electric plant so why not keep it alive with this?
Please reconsider your decision not to use a great local talent. From what I seen of the model Josh Johnson did a very good job of showing the heart of Fort Dodge. His mural shows what Fort Dodge really is past and present, which makes sense since he is from Fort Dodge past and present.

Why did the members of this committee waste everyone's time by holding a public vote when they were going to disregard it and pick who they wanted anyway. Pretty embarrassing for the members of this committee, and as a resident of Fort Dodge it is very disappointing as a whole.

When I compare the two pieces of art talked about, Johnson's clearly represents Fort Dodge. When you look at the image you can locate the places and your own memories tied to each place. Rather then unknown faces from an unknown or rather non-local artist.
