This is a bill that needs to pass, we need to make sure that people who drive on our roads are obeying the laws and know the rules in terms of the road code. Accidents do happen, but most of these accidents can be prevented or minimized by sitting, and passing the NZ driver's licensing test and keeping informed on the road code.

This is an absolute necessity. 4 killed by tourist drivers in my immediate neighbourhood over past 18 months - totally unacceptable.

Hi Judy. It is very sad to hear about that accident. I am a Chinese been living in NZL for 21 years. I 100% agree with your suggestion! Being a good driver! being a safe driver!

Vehicle accidents caused by foreigners who don't know NZ roads or rules. Let's prevent these un necessary accidents/deaths and have all foreigners no matter how long they are in NZ for have to have sat their restricted then full licence before they can drive legally and safely in NZ

Three months should be the max time you can drive on NZ roads without a NZ drivers licence, I was driven off a straight road by someone driving on the wrong side.

I am very sorry to hear this tragedy. I am also Chinese and I cannot believe that NZ law was too light and this kind careless person. I wish this wonot happen again.

When I visited the USA we HAD to sit a test and get a temporary drivers licence. Anyone who drives on NZ roads from any other country, no matter how long or short their visit should have to sit a test and get a temporary licence before they are entitled to get behind a steering wheel. Also if you do the crime, and are convicted you must do the time, no if's or buts. We need harsher penalties in NZ. You smoke some weed in Bali and you could be put on death row, but if you kill someone in NZ you get sent home - that's rubbish and a crime against our people.
