I couldn't understand why government allow the tourist who got oversea driver license can direct use in NZ. Their drive rule is different between NZ.Exactly,some driver like keep right when they driving.

Drivers from overseas shouldn't get off a plane who would be also tired & straight into a rental car when nz'ers have to sit their licences & some fail with minor faults. Stupid.

As far as I am concerned, this is a no brainer. I have personally seen and dealt with the aftermath of letting an inexperienced foreign driver drive on our rural roads, which are single lanes, with no barriers between opposing lanes and vehicles coming at you at 100km/h or higher. Unless you were a really confident driver, that would be terrifying for anyone who had not been driving in that type of environment before. All the best with this petition, hopefully the Government will take this issue seriously and give it a chance to make a change to the lives of ordinary new Zealanders who have to go through such a harrowing experience with the loss of a loved one through a death on our roads.

Being Chinese, I feel so sorry for the victim and his family, I'm also thankful for the parents' calm and insight. I really support their petition, please take action and make NZ a safer place.
