I strongly agree the notion of this petition. I'm from China and I know how people driving there. More kiwi going to die if we don't do something.

ALL overseas drivers should sit nz drivers test. NZ justice system is WEAK.

Life is cheap here in New Zealand. So much emphasis is put on trade with foreign countries, and forget the consequences of mass immigration. Good luck, stay strong.

This is so important - tourists who may arrive from countries with different road rules and laxer licencing procedures cannot put residents at risk.

*Anyone* who drives on our roads should have to sit a driving test. It's even more important for inexperienced tourist drivers who are unfamiliar with our road/driving conditions

I'm sick of Key saying it's "inconvenient" to change the law; how many Kiwi's have to die before it becomes convenient?

A practical test should be taken like the over 70s had to do to make sute their driving is up to standard

if we nz'rs have to sit the learners, restricted then full licences to be deemed fit to drive on our roads, why would you let foreigners unfamiliar with our roads drive with pretty much stuff all knowledge do so.

Even more than this petition seeks, we need some sort of instruction on the road difficulties people from other countries may encounter.

Definitely driving on country roads should be part of the test. New Zealand roads are unique in that they are windy, narrow, and scenery is distracting for thr tourists too. I come from Ukraine and we drive on the opposite side of the road, also many people pay bribes to get their licenses. That's very dangerous. I sat a driver license test here in NZ.

The fact that this isn't already the case is really alarming, and promotes an unhealthy precedence that the safety of lives in New Zealand doesn't matter as long as there is money to be made from foreigners using New Zealand roads.
If New Zealanders have to sit a license to drive on New Zealand roads, then so should foreigners!

... and if foreign countries "retaliate", it's not like most NZ drivers won't pass a driving exam anyway.

Agree, this should also apply to drivers who come from countries where they drive on opposite side of the road. Their instinct in an emergency is to turn to the right....right into on coming traffic in NZ.

I totally support this 100% Angers me when accidents happen because of foreign drivers that come here and don't have a clue about our roads.
