I agree if foreign drivers are staying for an extended period of time they should have to sit our drivers license and do the praticle test. They should also have to serve time if they kill someone while behind the wheel, make a statement that it is not acceptable.

Something has to be done! Too many visitors do not know or understand our road rules and there many deaths as a consequence of this.

I agree that ALL foreign nationals driving on our roads sit their NZ licence regardless of their length of stay.

I agree to sign this petition
requiring any visitor to New Zealand, who was issued with a visa for longer than three months, and wanted to drive a vehicle while in the country, be required to sit successfully a full New Zealand driver's licence test.

Something needs to be put In place to stop all these needless deaths of innocent New Zealanders and make it harder for foregin drivers to drive in New Zealand.

Foreign visitors need to pass the drive test, especially the different rule country. It is IMPORTANT!!

The law needs to be change as it's not going to bring our love one back and HD or prison not going to be good enough or they should be deported back to their countries and banned for life and not enter NZ again. And if they don't have a NZ licenses they shouldn't be driving on our roads until they sit our licenses for NZ and if they can't do a test before driving on our roads that mean they can catch a bus and tourist on that R.I.P Our love ones that have been killed

Every year several NewZealanders are losing their loved ones due to tourist being allowed to drive without proper safety measures. Govt should bring some sort of training or assessment before allowing them to drive.
Atleast non right handed drivers must pass a driving test before ... as this is the cause of most accidents of this nature. Wake up politicians!
And there should be strict punishment ... killing a person and then 3 months in jail thats joke. you make harsh rule to teach lesson and send strong message to other drivers.

We are told that driving is a privilege, not a right, and that those who drive must pass the standards set under law. Why does the law exempt tourists?
