Anyone wishing to drive a vehicle on our roads should be tested. Maybe not a full license test but a competency test perhaps

Couldn't agree more. How many more inoccent people have to die due to the lack of nz governments incompetence to see a major issue.

Something needs to be done. My own brother was taken out by tourists in May. He severely broke his back needing surgery but thank god hes alive. Laws need to change!

Friends brother killed by an inexperienced foreign driver, it's too easy for foreigners to drive in our country which often had poorer condition, narrower roads, no medium barriers & different road rules to the country that they were qualified in. The Prime Ministers stated view that adding a competency test will be inconvient to NZ drivers over seas of the rules were applied to us is rediculous beyond beleif, every country needs to have a tourist driver testing regime for the same reasons!

Just read this article on the Herald. Our law is far too soft, and our licence system far too liberal. May your son rest in peace, and his life dedicated to saving future Kiwis and tourists.

Have a harsher punishments return those back to the country to serve JAIL TIME..., I believe there's justice system that can change by allowing the Public to be safe .., why create a justice system that allows convicted criminals fly back to there country without serving time in this country ...!!!?
