Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

All foreigners absolutely should be.made to sit nz license before going on our roads.due to the very poor understanding of our driving rules. Lack of knowledge an they cause majority of severe.accidents.

Everyone should at least take a writen test before they drive.

I drive the roads a lot betweeen Auckland & Tauranga coming down to see my family and you see a lot of foreign drivers that don't know our road rules and the rest. I totally agree for them to sit our test. Sorry very sorry to the family...

Something needs to be done to make our roads safer. There are far too many accidents involving tourists due to them not understanding our rules.

I beleive ALL vistors to NZ, prior to seeking access to driving any vehicle on our Roads should be required to pass a Driving Test. Administerd by an appropriate QUALIFIED organisation. Trevor.

I have a motorcycle and only 2 days ago I was out riding and twice when coming up behind cars who were Foreigners did they move right over and nearly ran off the road to let me pass. DUMB DANGEROUS MOVE.

It should be mandatory

This is the most sensible option for the safety of all

It should be imposed as not all international drivers are familiar with road codes here

Fortunately I have not known anyone nor do I wish to know anyone who is killed by a foreign driver on the roads, but I have followed this story and many others that leave me shocked at how a foreign driver can come to New Zealand and kill and not get enough punishment. I can 100% vouch that they are not confident on the road and take it lightly, as I host overseas guests. There needs to be a change immediately. This foreign driver should have served a decent sentence here. Money is not the solution. The government must ACT NOW

For safety this is important

Fully support all tourists having a NZ licence of some sort before getting behind the wheel on our roads. Let's keep everyone safe, to many innocent people are dying

The judicial system in NZ makes events like this a small issue - just another foreign driver who doesn't know any better How can someone who can't drive , or can't even speak English let alone read it be given the keys to a lethal weapon and let loose on our roads Until something is done this will happen again and again and again My sympathies to the Middleton family your boy would b proud of you making this stand
