I have discovered that Chines drivers can be issued a Drivers Licence without ever driving a vehicle on the open road. The test is merely to demonstrate their ability to manoeuvre a vehicle in a carpark. The Licence issued entitles them to drive a manual transmission vehicle having never ever driven one.
I know this smacks of racism, but innocent people are being killed here and the government is turning a blind eye to it.

Foreign drivers should be able to prove they are capable of driving on NZ roads before they are permitted to drive. This is a typical example of ignorance, where a life has been taken unnecessarily. My thoughts are with the Middleton family xxx

That the House pass legislation requiring any visitor to New Zealand who is issued with a visa for a period longer than 3 months, and who wishes to drive a vehicle while in the country, be required to sit a full New Zealand driver’s licence test and be issued with a New Zealand Driver’s Licence.

Something needs to be done. I've been involved with several near collisions with Asian drivers who perform dangerous moves on the road with no regard to other traffic.

Government needs to do something to protect not only general public transportation means, but also government needs to protect ethnic groups who could have been alienate by others in public just because they came from some countries which our government approved to let their citizens to drive on our roads without testing, and there is no legal limits to driving in NZ for foreigners. Government needs to do something so that Chinese is not being blamed as a whole for bad driving behaviours. Besides Rhys, there are other victims in this case, including his family, also Chinese as an ethnic group is an victim group in this case, because nowadays this is already a trend that people see Chinese as bad drivers. In this case the Government and legal system let us all down both Rhys, his family and ethnic group.

Much more needs to be done to test a foreign visitor 's driving ability on NZ roads as they are a danger to every other motorist and it is far too easy for them to be able to drive here.

I see appalling driver behaviour on a daily basis. I travel a road that is frequented by tourists and it requires a high degree of concentration and skill to make that journey safely any day of the week.
