Foreign drivers who pass their driver's license in their country and then haven't the chance to drive because of the high costs of car ownership (eg Singapore, Hong Kong, China) are visiting NZ and then are allowed to drive here. It's accident waiting to happen.

I am appalled at the legal system of this Country. Kill someone and you get off scott free.She should not have been on the road

A short competency test 15min in front of a police officer,paid for by the tourist.

If you've been driving in their own country for less than 5 years, yes they should be required to take a NZ Driving Test, made specific to overseas drivers.

I was close to having a head on crash with a Asian driver on Nixon Rd after finishing my shift one night at The Riverhead. After rounding a corner his car was on my side & heading straight for me. If i had been 1min earIier I wouldn't have seen him.

I totally support your petition and consider it long overdue,it is tragic that a young man had to die in order for us to begin to effect change.

All tourists should have to have a nz road test, our roads are scary to drive on and they have no idea.

All foreign drivers need to be assessed as competent before being allowed to drive on our roads. This includes those from what we would call advanced countries but who drive on the right, and especially from countries like China, who quite frankly drive like nutcases and seldom obey what traffic laws they have, and most especially from Thailand, a country that has the worlds highest death rate from traffic crashes.

I agree with this petition, too many NZ'rs are being killed by overseas tourists. And in this case the driver should never of been in charge of a vehicle. I feel for this family losing their son this way. Something needs to be done about this.
