This has to happen but also if some person is found guilty of killing a person while driving a vehicle they should be deported back their country and do the full sentence. People are getting off to lightly when they return to their country.

Good Idea Thought it was already in force. have to do so in Australia after moving from state to state.

I have to have a NZ licence to drive our roads, tourists should have to sit at least SOMETHING!

I believe no tourist or visitor to New Zealand should be able to drive until some form of seminar re video and question and answers sheet is done so they have a firm understanding of New Zealand road rules. No pass, no licence to drive in New Zealand. Period.

Something needs to be done .. Having lived in China the place where anyone can get anything , including drivers licenses . R they real ?....

Having seen the carnage 1st hand that a forign driver caused by driving on wrong side of road. I am fully support of this.

I fully agree. Tourists arrive, suffer from lagjet and are not used to driving in the "wrong" side of the road. They shouldn't be given a car to start with!

Too many innocent people are being killed or maimed by foreign tourists, it has to stop.

How many more Kiwis have to die due to the tourist on our roads, all tourist no matter what nationality their back ground is, should take a compulsory road test, before they are allowed behind the wheel of any car.

I with you all the way. I lost a brother in 73 to drink driving. He was 19. Nz government need to listen to the ordainary person who are left with a life sentence of there own. NO nz License NO Drive in N Z.

Even NZ drivers have no punishment for hitting motorcycles the justice system is a complete joke

Has to change! Why can Kiwis not drive in China but inexperienced Chinese drivers can drive here? Madness.
