It's scary knowing that foreigners are able to drive without a New Zealand liscence, these holidays my mum was driving and a foreigner was driving towards her on the wrong side of the road. She had to slow down and beep for them to correct themselves and swerve over onto the left side of the road.

Should be mandatory requirement for any foreigner intending to drive on our roads, regardless of how long they are staying

too many people are driving without a license as well, making roads even more dangerous. we need to hike up penalties for learners driving with people in their cars, People driving without a license altogether, etc

Foreign drivers must go for at least 6 driving lessons from a registered and approved driving school to learn the road rules and driving in New Zealand.

In the space of 2 weeks I almost had a foreign driver turn from the state highway into our lane and almost hit our car and then witnessed another foreign driver cross an intersection on to the wrong side of the road. Enough is enough. If they don't know NZ road rules, they simply shouldn't be allowed to drive on our roads. My husband or I could have been seriously hurt due to a tourist driver as could another innocent NZ driver due to incompetent foreign drivers.

All Kiwis have to take a test before they drive on our roads, so why should it be any different for foreigners? I would definitely want to take at least a lesson before I was to drive on the road in a different country.

I believe it is in the best interest of New Zealand to make sure overseas visitors are fit to use our roads.

I also believe all tourists should have to have a "T" plate displayed in the window when driving at all times

100% agree with this, should've been done years ago. Update the public transport options and keep ALL the inexperienced drivers off the road.

They shouldn't be aloud to drive in New Zealand without sitting a test first.

I have witnessed tourists driving dangerously, driving on wrong side, passing on blind corners, stopping in middle of road around blind corners to take photos time and time again. I have witnessed 100s of near misses.

I think any tourist who wishes to drive on our roads should sit a full lisence before they're given the keys to a car in our country
