Something needs to be done about these drivers. It's absolutely frightening to follow one watching them driving over the white line, on corners in the oncoming lane. They need to be assessed before they drive on NZ roads.

100% agree - Stricter rules including not being able to leave NZ until they have attended Court or paid their fines.

Good luck with this petition. Sorry for the loss of Rhys, we are motorcycle riders ourselves so always feel more vulnerable towards foreign drivers

I am a strong believer that all immigrants should sit a NZ licence. I have had so many near miss accidents lately and they were all asian. Most of them are shocking drivers. I have even seen two of them driving up the wrong side of the road lately.

Its a known fact that many countries just give a license away easily or take bribes for licenses ( i know 2 foreigners who this is true for ) so i cant believe we let anyone drive here without at least a basic test

i agree with this bigtime :) but more like it dont let them drive on our roads at all !!!!! or get a licence like we all have to first >>>>

I am a Professional Private Hire driver.This petition will save more lives as I see dangerous driving by foreign tourists around Auckland Aurport.Most Car Rentals start from here

Foreigners are like ticking time bombs on our roads. Killing our people and the only punishment is getting sent home. What a joke. They need to learn the NZ road code exactly as we do to have the privillage of driving a vehicle amongst our children. Awesome petition.

I have enjoyed the privilege of travelling to the US, Canada, and several European countries where I have driven on their roads with my New Zealand licence. The roads were excellent and I felt competent to negotiate them after driving in NZ. There are other countries I have travelled to that I would never dream of getting behind the wheel. The 'rules' apparently don't apply, and conditions are very different. We shouldn't assume that any visitor with a licence is fit to drive on our roads. It is craziness to do so! Please amend our law to make our roads safer for everyone.

We live in the lakes district we have alot of tourists. I have almost been killed on several occasions by people doing unbelievable things while driving. Eg stoped in the middle of the road just around a blind corner with harzard lights on and passengers out taking photos. People driving on the wrong side of the road. People with zero idea on how to navagate a round about. Its is a real issue myself my wife and my inlaws have all had close calls. Also alot of my neighbours have aswell.
