I support this change. I have personally encountered three wrong side road tourists, three! Along state highway 10, Mangonui township and along Karikari.

Aso all visitors from left hand driving countries should have to pass a stringent practical test by an authorised person before driving on NZ roads even if they're only here for a day.

Something needs to be done very soon. The amount of fatalities by foreign drivers is appalling. We had an asian man drive at us from s side road and only due to evasive action from my husband did we avoid an accident. He then carried on and caused another incident further up the road, at this point wr reported the event to the police.

Well done guys, it is amazing that this government has failed so badly in legislation relating to the use of our roads. When are laws also going to be reviewed about cycling on our roads. More traffic, for foreign drivers and more cyclists, it is all going to end in a lot of tears.

Any person renting a car should have to present a NZ license or present an overseas license & visa, and watch a video about our rules and regs in their language and pass a 30 min virtual test, at the very least, before being allowed on our roads. Or Ideally present an overseas license and pass a defensive driving course to get NZ temp driving license. The course should be one made for overseas drivers informing them of the different conditions and rules in NZ with them sitting the practical at the end. And foreign driver pulled over for a traffic offense should have the car immediately impounded and name added to database for car rentals banning them from the road until they re-do the course and re-sit the test. Also make It illegal to sell or loan a vehicle to anyone without a current NZ license.

I agree all Foreigners should follow the same process as we do to get a drivers license including having to use P plates for restricted and learner drivers.

I think it should be compulsory for foreigners to sit a test to get a nz license. Especially if they are going to hire vehicles from here. If they dont have a nz license, then they shouldn't be able to hire or drive a vehicle on our roads.

Yesterday my daughters friends were traveling to wanaka for there sons wedding and were in a head on accident with Americans on wrong side of road. They were air lifted to dunedin hospital. Bad injuries . Not able to be at her own sons wedding. ☹️ This happens too often. We travel around the South Island a lot and the roads are very unsafe.

Every tourist in NZ should be made to sit a basic learners test to pass or fail for safe driving. Then if they plan to stay three months or more to sit a full test. We all know New Zealand roads are very different and require skill, why take anymore chances loosing lives
