Well overdue! I won't ride the Akaroa highway for exactly this reason.

Fully support this. Nzers get banned from driving for not knowing road rules/having correct licence, wht should foreigners be exempt when here for more than a visit.

With my husband travelling through tourist hot spots I worry that he is put at risk by foreign travellers that don't understand our roads nor adhere to basic rules, judgement and plain common sense. The sooner this passes the better in my opinion. Thank you.

More needs to be done. In queenstown over chinese new year i feared for my life and others as i watched tourists drive over the centre line..stop on the sides of roads dangerously to take pix and drive 30kms in 100kms zones causing others to pass dangerously to get away from them. It was seriously scarey.

Agree completly with this and hope it passes soon. I drive through Central Otago monthly mainly Queenstown via the crown range and a lot of what I see is foreign "drivers" who are dangerous without a clue , putting the lives of New Zealanders at risk.

I believe that we need to test all drivers, don't stop at 3 months.

I have witnessed extremely dangerous driving by tourists on our country roads. Crossing to the wrong side of the road on blind corners Every one who hires a vehicle should have to sit a test!!!

Best wishes with this petition. We definitely need a change. And I would go so far as to add that we need to be able to assure ourselves of a minimum amount of knowledge and experience before anyone is allowed on the road - the convenience for tourists for the sake of their money they bring in vs safety for the lives of others on the road - no comparison. My heart goes out to you, may something really positive come out of your petition.

Although I live at present in Brisbane I will be returning to Dunedin to live in a few years. I think this is must. For us all to be safe on the roads.

hope that's help to avoid more accidents and families destroyed.
It is impressed how easy is for the foreign rent a car in nz without restrictions, some of them are not responsable drives, they stop anywhere to take a pictures, doesn't matters if it is in a curve, hills etc. Some of them forget to drive at left side!!
