Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

motorbike rider errant. have had too many accidents to write down. old drivers and frogien drivers. please give them the confidence to drive safely and STOP tourists KILLING US. thank you judy richards for your couarge. our love to you.

A much needed law

We currently treat foreign drivers better than our own in NZ.Why because our Govt is too scared to make a stand and admit these people can't drive on our roads??.Why do we let inexperienced drivers on our roads with no experience?,yet we fail our own drivers at 50% these days?....at least Kiwis actually have a learner/ restricted licence and practical experience!, foreign drivers have none!!...they are just given a licence and assumed they can drive??...why??... it's any wonder Kiwis are getting killed by these people?

Get our roads safer...for all

stop losing lives on New Zealand road because of rental company greed.

I'm also a victim of this I didn't lose my life but my car is gone I'm struggling in pain to work I get nothing because I'm self employed! All because this German driver on holiday decieded she couldn't wait for the person in front of her to turn right into Thomas street wellsford! Instead she thought it was okay to go around that person into on coming traffic into me for a start if you go around someone you around to left of them away from on coming traffic! My 23 month old was in the car who let off a deathly scream my car went into 360 I pulled the handbrake to stop me from hitting the car waiting to turn! Yes my old was an old 91 but it's was tidy good motor always passed a wof new tyres I have never been in an accident like this ever! I was not expecting to have a car pull out infront of me that was behind a car that was turning all I was doing was trying to pick my daughter up from school! This happened sh1 wellsford outside Thomas street last Thursday! I wasn't even going 50! This just makes me so mad! And more so reading this!

Just think every time a foreign driver gets behind the wheel and there is a crash where someone has been killed the rental company should be held responsible for not insuring that the foreign driver knows the road rules and also everytime there is a crash the blood is on the governments hand for not doing anything about it

I hope that the powers that be in Parliament pass this legislation quickly before these foreign tourists cause any more carnage on our roads!!

I live in Southland and see plenty of hazardous tourists. Definitely a good legislation for everyone's safety.

I regularly drive down SH1 going south from Christchurch and see some scary driving from drivers who are obviously overseas tourists.

We lost our best mate on4/3/2004 too a Canadian tourist driving on the wrong side of the road in the South Island, who left NZ with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. This law change is way over due. Dean was only 35 years old.

I also lost friend at the end of last year in an accident on his motorcycle when hit by a foreign driver. To many taken to soon by careless drivers

All tourists who want to drive on Nz roads should sit the test no matter how long they are planning to stay.
