They should all sit the driving test and also i think it should be compulsory that they should take driving lessons for at least couple months.

My 2 cousin’s lives were suddenly taken from their babies, partners, siblings, parents and our hapu. I believe foreign drivers need to take a defensive driving course when entering or hiring a vehicle to drive on our roads. The foreign driver had been residing in Australia for studies, and within hours of his arrival in nz, two local men lost their lives on Northland rural roads. These men knew these roads as they traveled daily. This driver was granted release of his passport to resume his life until his court date, while these two men have lost their life and a huge whanau/ hapu grieves.
We need safety measures in place so we do not loose anymore New Zealanders because foreign drivers were not skilled to drive our roads.
That’s why I’m signing!!

I have been in half a dozen very near misses and seen dozens more in central Otago, mainly Queenstown. NZ must take action asap before more people die or maimed.

License warranty to drive must pass test same as hard how it is for younger kiwis learners restricted licences rather not so simple to just drive with freedom little more safety

Visitor time frame way too short - how much time they have in country and the motoring kms they expect to achieve is way out of whack. Comparisons of New Zealand roads and European roads is night and day.

Many drivers are visiting for a short time only - those accustomed to driving on opposite side of road should be targeted too

Yes yes yes it is SO dangerous and I have witnessed people not understanding the road rules. Which side of the road to drive on and general road rules not to mention actually being able to drive in the first place!!
