I fully agree that anyone driving on our roads should have some kind of test. Smaller test for smaller time maybe. I've seen people do horrible things on the road and I don't want myself or anyone to be another statistic

Our roads need protected. Look at the statistics on the Milford road. It isn't nzer's causing the crashes, but they are often the victims.

Yes absolutely. Should be for any tourist who wants to drive - not just those staying more than 3 months

My car was written off when a dutch tourist came around a blind bend on the wrong side of the road. I was traveling slowly and luckily only received cuts and bruises. The scary thing was then when the camper driver saw we were about to crash head-on his first instinct was to pull the steering wheel to the right. He realized then pulled it to the left. My vehicle was opened like a can opener opens a can. These foreign drivers must show they can drive here before being allowed on our roads. I was lucky, Rhys Middleton was not. So sad, so preventable. Thoughts are with the family.

I live in an area that has a high Asian population and their driving capabilities are frankly frightening along with a lot of minor accidents.

How many more innocent, law abiding New Zealand citizens have to die before action is taken?

It's an obvious necessity.

as a retired Driving Instructor of 40 years...Yes I totally agree...make these overseas drivers sit a test...or use public transport..far too many unnecessary deaths to innocent people happening with foreign drivers. It has to stop....Sorry is not good enough!

almost every time I drive Dunedin to Oamaru I have to negotiate around some who makes a wrong turn at Moeraki and pulls out again without looking at oncoming vehicles

Sick of close calls with tourists and hearing experiences that have caused injury or death. Our road rules are too different to other countries' for this to not be legislation here.
