We need to address this issue rather than pretending there is nothing wrong. Too many NZers are being killed by inexperienced or careless foreign drivers.

Visit Rarotonga and you want to drive or ride a scooter? You have to sit for your Cook Island licence. Why is this not the same in NZ regardless of the length of stay???

Yes They should sit our New Zealand licence before driving in our country. Toughen the law up!!

YES! I know they don't mean to cause the crashes and kill our family members BUT it should have been made mandatory years ago !! And when they are allowed to walk on to a plane and fly home to live as normal a life as they can (if they're remorseful) without really paying any penance,that just cuts deeper into the gapping hole that is left in the victims families lives :(

That the House pass legislation requiring any visitor to New Zealand who is issued with a visa for a period longer than 1 month, and who wishes to drive a vehicle while in the country, be required to sit a full New Zealand driver’s licence test and be issued with a New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
