Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

Make them sit a drivers licence before they drive day 1 no exceptions

This needs to happen as foreign visitors get away with killing New Zealanders on there own roads. If any NZ resident killed someone on the road they would have to face the penalty yet a foreigner can just leave the country. That is not on

This needs to happen! Our roads aren't like other country's. It will be safer for everyone.

i live in the te anau basin. too many close calls in towns and country roads. Driving ability, stopping in middle of roads to take photos from car or leave car there for few seconds and run around on road for pics of sheep cows hills clouds rocks, you name it. driving on wrong side of road, not knowing what a sign means

This needs to be enforced 100% no Iffs or buts it's time to take action and save more NZ lives as well as foreigners on out roads

I fully support this and would go further to say if caught driving without the required paperwork their Visa is revoked!!

I don't understand how someone who cannot even read or understand our language is permitted to drive on our roads! We definitely need to change our laws!

It's about time. I've nearly been run over on the way to school many times by foreign drivers. One jumped a curb behind me, and another time we came round a blind corner to come straight up against a foreign driver coming up our side of the road.

Foreigners need to know our roads and drive in accordance to the road code book. The following also goes that: A. No car rental company should allow any foreign driver take any car without complying or making foreigner watch a video to help them with the basics of our roads especially for urban and open road. B. Make foreigner do a test drive in the car and a theory test on paper. That way if anything happens and they say they didnt know you will have all the paper work required to say differ. C. If foreigner is here for more than 3 months aa must make it a compulsory to make sure all foreigners abide, understand and know the roads here in NZ . In doing this you need to make them do all theory tests and driving tests that New Zealanders have to do when they get their license. Please put them on learners to know the basics and have the same time period of being able to get restricted and full license, That way foreigner is more assertive on the road and any incidents such as this must be ruled out and dealt with insurance and ministry of justice in accordance to New Zealand Laws. D. If our ministry of justice cannot obide with the New Zealand Laws for foreigners then Double Standards come into play and New Zealand People should be able to overrule your bylaws when it comes to foreigner NOT obiding in accordance with the New Zealand Laws and Not practising ROAD CODE SAFETY. The lives of New Zealanders and Foreigners lives are at risk and this lyes in the palm of your hands. How many more accidents does there need to be on the road before someone is dead all because they couldnt comply with the New Zealand safety driving standards??
