I fully agree with this. There are too many needless deaths on our roads due to foreigners not knowing how to drive on our roads!

Im totally fed up with foreigners killing our people - we have enough idiots of our own doing that. We dont want any more. Yes it should be 28 days.

Totally agree they should have to sit a test. My husband is a truck driver and 2 years ago a tourist came flying across a intersection where they should of stopped due to a stop sign. My husband had no where to go and couldn't stop his fully loaded truck. Unfortunately one died at the scene. But the trauma hasn't stopped there as my husband still has nightmares about the accident and has to live with the fact that a person died. This type of thing has to stop. Please take notice as it is not just the human cost but the emotional and mental cost ti those involved and their families.

Most tourists are here for less than 3 months anyway, so this should be for 28days, but i''m still signing.

Queenstown, Otago and Southalnd Roads are dangerous thanks to bloody tourist drivers.....just not good enough !

A friend of ours was just killed on our roads by a foreign driver - who if your lucky will serve only 4 months!!!! which is the maxium sentence they can give!!! Anybody driving on our roads needs to know how to drive on them!!

Yes they should definitely. And not an Asian driving school either (im not racist but with the amount of Asian tourists causing accidents it's a high percentage to other visiting cultures). Asian driving schools im certsin give out plenty of licences that shouldnt be awarded.

I think that all foreign drivers should sit a basic theory and practical test before being able to drive in NZ

ANY person wishing to drive in NZ should need to prove that they are capable and understand NZ driving roads and conditions and need to demonstrate that they can drive safely. And they need to be more accountable and not able to get off lightly partially in an injury or death situation just like any NZ driver is also held accountable for bad or careless or dangerous drivng
