Even if they drive for a day they should pass a practical driving test. They also should not be allowed to hire a car until 24hours after a long flight.

Agree. Anyone driving in NZ should atleast sit a temporary NZ licence no matter if they are driving her for a day or longer.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. Too many poor driving incidences and tourists not having sufficient knowledge of our driving laws. Perhaps a theoretical test and a short driving test to gauge a visiting drivers skills.

The standard of driving in NZ is shocking, and the current obsession with concentrating on speed doesn't help with those that are incapable of controlling a car safely at the open road speed limit as they will escape the attention of those operating the speed measuring equipment until they cause a crash.
This petition won't help with those that have already swapped their easily obtained foreign driving licence for a NZ one, but its a start

Definitely needs to be done, spend most of my time on the road and I see some scary things, mainly from tourists in rentals.

The ammount of bad driving I've seen coming from rental cars and ovousily people holidaying in our country we need a test in so we can keep our country safe and beautiful.
