Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

It should read: All tourists wanting to drive within NZ! How many tourists stay for longer than 3 months, if they drive on our roads, they should have a licence! I dont go to other countries and expect to be able to drive safely...

About time!!!

It needs to be safer for us out there.

Yes they should have to sit a test.

Only fair people not from NZ coming to visit or Appling for school and work Visa's should sit for their NZ drivers license. Rules, roads and written signs are different in every country.

Something has to happen.

I have been driving for over 35 years and have definitely witnessed dangerous driving by foreigners .parked in the middle of the road,passing on blind corners etc. I saw a foreign driver have to relinquish his car to another person so the car could be reversed for parking.he should not be able to drive if he cant do a simple manoeuvre .

I've avoided three "near miss" head on collisions in 6 weeks. Tourists were driving on wrong side of the road in Central Otago. One vehicle passed centimeters from my wing right mirror and another passed me on the passenger side! Short term tourist drivers also need educating, not just those on Visas.

Something needs to happen as 2 many accidents

Please add my name to the petition- That the House pass legislation requiring any visitor to New Zealand who is issued with a visa for a period longer than 3 months, and who wishes to drive a vehicle while in the country, be required to sit a full New Zealand driver’s licence test and be issued with a New Zealand Driver’s Licence

Fully support this petition too many people being killed by overseas drivers that dont know how to drive on our roads also shouldn't be driving so soon after international flights due to tiredness and jet lag

It should be if they don't drive in their country they shouldn't drive in ours and if they want to they have to sit a test

As they should. Then there would be no excuses.

It shouldn't matter how long they are going to be in our country. I believe that they should still have to sit some kind of test!!!

Stop tourists killing people on our roads. Tourism won't die, only the rental car industry. Bus and shuttle services will boom creating more jobs for kiwis

40 years ago a family we knew were devastated when an overseas driver hit them head on when driving on the wrong side of the road. Their Father died at the scene & their Mother sometime later from an injury she suffered in the crash. Some years later their son took his life. It was a tragedy. This sort of accident is still happening & more needs to be done to protect road users.

How many more lives do we have to lose before something gets done.

Short term visitors should also have to do something as well to make sure they can drive!0
