Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

Too many lives lost over so many years. Let's make this happen.

They are killing our people and getting away Scott free...

I live up North and have seen numerous tourists forget the rules and drive on the wrong side of the road.

I strongly suggest that foreigners sit a New Zealand Driver's License as there are far too many foreigners causing accidents that costing lives.

Full English Literature and Numeracy test before an extensive Driving Test. They should also apply for the test before they come here to save them waiting for days on their holiday!!

I don't know why this wasn't already a requirement with the amount of accidents deaths and injuries foreigners cause.

Yes there are to many foreign drivers forgeting the nz road rules and driving on the wrong side of the causing fatal accidents

You have to sit a drivers test in the Cook Islands for god sake, why not here.

I am a courier in North Otago, I travel between Oamaru and Palmerston, I have been involved in a near miss with a tourist. I have also seen one with a sign on the back window, learner driver A4 size paper blocking the revision mirror. Educate them to driver on our roads. Or will it take a member of Parliament's family member to be killed before there is a law change.

This shouldve been a requirement a long time ago. So many lives lost due to foregien drivers due to their incompetence. Rip rhys

As an ex Traffic Officer for the old MOT, I strongly support this initiative.

I think the time has come for foregin tourists should be made to do our NZ test before they are aloud to drive on our roads.to many of them are causing to many car accidents.

All foreign drivers must sit the new Zealand driving test to be on our roads, end of story. This corrupt government is doing nothing about this nor is it doing anything about a myriad of other issues. Its time we take the power back from these corporate owned politicians!

Fare enough. I don't want to share the roads with any foreigners that are behind the wheel in this country! !
