Heart goes out to these families suffering loss due to bad tourist drivers.. Any steps to help keep our citizens safe is a positive step for a better New Zealand.

Fully agree. Foreign drivers need to have more training before being left to drive our roads by themselves. Our own young drivers have to pass the tests which many of them fail more than once through the process

Over 3 months they are not tourists and should have a full license. Also a test on arrival for tourists?

Hire cars should have lights in all the time , speed reduction device and an arrow on the dash to remind the drive which side of the road to drive . All standard overseas.. Come on Minister !

Happy to join you. Had a close shave on Arthur's Pass last January. Idiot heading towards me head on . I stopped , he passed me on my left. Grinning and waving 'sorry' . Needn't mention his nationality .

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It is absolutely criminal to allow foreign drivers on our roads who have little knowledge of our driving rules and conditions. Sad and very angry that this is still allowed to happen.
