I agree, make foreigners/tourists have to sit a license test before allowing them to drive on our roads.

While driving, I often follow foreign drivers, shaking my head, raising my hands in dis belief, while they indicate left, then go right, slow down in the middle of the road, no indications whether they are going left or right, no idea the traffic behind is trying to guess what their next move will be while trying to avoid an accident waiting to happen. This is just on suburban roads. Those same drivers, heaven help us, MAY actually hold a licence, how they got it is anyone's guess, but out on the open road those indecisions can be deadly and it could affect any of us. I don't know what the answer is, but I certainly agree, there has to be better understanding of our road rules before they take the wheel just as is expected of our own new drivers and more accountability if the worse happens, accident or otherwise.

Definitely need foreigners to learn the law before going on roads. And particularly Chinese who make maximum mistakes while driving even after getting license .

No matter if ya local or from overseas. You kill someone you do the time. Not walk away. Shame on the justice system again...

Completely agree. I have had a couple of close calls recently in Auckland from cars not giving way. They were an Asian driver. I know I'm stereotyping but you just see it so often there must be a reason for it. Sometimes they just look so unsure on the road. Like there's a big difference between Asian and New Zealand driving styles or rules.

All the best & hope that onebody else ever gets to walk away without paying for a death that they have caused.

If a driver only holds a license to drive on right of road, they must be required to pass a NZ Drivers license before ANY driving in NZ.

With the leniency of NZ law and justice system, foreign drivers take no sensible consequences of their reckless behaviour, putting other road users at a disadvantage.

Something needs to be done ... I have *555 a number of bad foreign drivers whilst tailing them. Too many people have died on our roads due to them not knowing how to cope with our roads and road code.

My son had an accident last night with a Chinese driver pulled out in front of him onto main road. he is fine but it scares me that it happened and I avoid numerous incidents daily from stupid Chinese drivers
