If Foreign drivers are guilty of causing an accident then they should accept the consequences. The punishment ahould suit the crime.

As someone who rides a motorcycle in NZ every day, I understand the frustration. I constantly see people driving erratically on our roads and more than often it is foreigners or people using mobile phones. Wake up people. Want to drive on our roads? Learn the rules like everybody else.

A drivers license is a positive proactive step towards improving safety on the roads for long term visa visitors as well as kiwis, why wouldn't we get behind this safety initiative, do it

Kiwi living in Malaysia I see everyday how bad the driving is here.
-Drivers don't indicate and turn lanes,
-drivers go thru red lights
And list goes on!!! Open your eyes
NZ and safe our kiwis on the road.

Just because somebody has a drivers license from another country doesn't mean they can drive. I agree 100% all should be tested. If you test your own citizens before allowing them to drive, then why not visitors.

How many more tradegies have to happen for the government to realise that it is common sense for foreigners to sit a driving test to drive on our roads!!

Having been to China I would not consider trying to drive there. They drive on the other side of the road and I would not have a clue of the rules of the road because it looks like chaos to me. They should not be allowed to drive here without sitting a driving test.

It is high time politicians took action on this subject. For too long poorly skilled foreign drivers have been allowed to drive with impunity thus endangering the lives of locals. It is simply NOT good enough to quote meaningless percentages and figures. The reality is that rules CAN be put in place to ENSURE capability BEFORE allowing visitors to drive on our roads.
Spend more on this and less on revenue catching of locals!!!

My father inlaw was killed on the road by torist who where held accountable for non and returned to there homeland. Gut wrenching
