Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

What a pathetic country (PC) we have become in allowing foreigners to kill and maim our citizens with virtual impunity. An analogy... Take a gun from a safe, load it, discharge it in an unsafe manner, kill an innocent bystander then have the audacity to appeal your sentence as being too harsh because it was not your fault, it was just your inexperience...then incredibly our authorities agree and give you a get out of jail card and a free ticket home courtesy of the NZ tax payer. If you start that motor or load that gun you are totally responsible for the consequences. Simon Bridges says "the government does not support the petition because evidence showed foreign drivers did not cause MORE crashes than the proportion of New Zealanders" what a typical gutless cop out from a government that does not want to govern, if foreigners cause ANY, I repeat ANY crashes and deaths due to being unlicensed or inexperienced then the government damm well should support this petition. If foreigners enjoy the privilege to live, work and study among us then they sit the driving test and get licensed like the rest of us or get the bus. A human life may not be of much value in their home countries but they are invaluable in ours. I believe that the responsibility of the government and judiciary is to protect the citizenry, obviously the Key government is more interested in protecting the tourism and trade dollars, sadly kiwis like Rhys Middleton and too many others are only collateral damage, do not be complacent one of you or someone you love will be next, maybe even a cabinet minister's child. I am sorry for your loss Middleton Family, I will also continue to ride. RIP Rhys,

I feel strongly about this as well. Far to many New Zealanders get killed on our roads caused by foreign drivers not knowing the rules here

Too many locals being killed on our roads by tourists. We have unique roading conditions. Testing should be mandatory.

There needs to be some sort of test for all overseas drivers. I see that today this Chinese woman has been deported so what sort of sentence is that. The NZ justice system is just a joke.

Any person coming into the country wanting to drive should sit a test.

I don't see why anyone who might never have driven a vehicle in their entire lives should be allowed to do so for the very first time here in New Zealand. A short driving test should be mandatory for drivers from any country outside of a select few.

I support all foreign visitors who wish to drive in NZ sitting a road code test before they can drive here. 3 months could be too late !
