Thoughts are with you and this should be mandatory for all tourists entering the country or at least 'T' plates.

Too many kiwis have been killed by foreign drivers! A good friend of mine lost his girlfriend due to an inexperienced Indian driver crossing the centre line, crashing into his car on the passengers side. Enough is enough

We have been severely let down by our judicial system. This case shows how out of touch with reality those in our judicial system are. This good pragmatic suggested legislation from a lay person, makes you wonder what all those high priced Politicians are doing all day .

Fair enough.
Exceptions would be places like UK, Australia ...of course.
The few places that drive on the correct side of the road.

Given how easy it seems to be for foreigners to get a license (including heavy traffic) I think they should all have to sit the equivalent of our full license. And it needs to include open road driving, if they are not up to scratch they shouldn't be on our roads - plain and simple!

put em on push bikes with training wheels and they'll still cause accidents in cycle lanes.
Driving in fast lane at 80-90k... wtf!!

2 Months ago i was very nearly involved in a high speed head-on collision while riding my motorcycle. The elderly asian man had all 4 wheels on my side of the road. Too bad police had their hands full pulling over people for traveling 1kmh over our stupidly slow speed limits.
A good portion of kiwi drivers dont seem to be able to handle their cars at speeds above 50kmh, we dont need foreign visitors that are unfamiliar with our roads adding to this problem. Our licencing system is a disgrace.

This is great and would benefit so many people and families, the amount of near misses I've had because they've been allowed on our roads is crazy!!

I agree but short stay visitors here under three months also need to demonstrate driving competence before being hired a vehicle.

Foreign drivers who do not know our roads and rules are dangerous! It is unfair of us to have to pass these tests for the safety of others when tourists don't! I personally believe that they are more likely to cause accidents than we are! his needs to be sorted for the sake of everyone out there on the roads right now AND in the future!
