Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

I think all visitors with a drivers license from a country with significant different driving rules should pass a NZ test before they can drive in NZ regardless their visa status.

Foreign drivers need to pass the exams to show they know how to drive in New Zealand ! It's not only for European society ,but also for Asian society too !

I'm Malaysian and I strongly support this campaign. Firstly, I'm ex working holiday and when I come to NZ I'm get shocked that everyone can driving on NZ road without holding local driving license. I think as a tourist at least we have to be trained how to drive in NZ especially for those who driving right lane in their country. New Zealander please support this campaign as i think this is very serious problem as we know that the number of tourist will still increasing in the near future.

The world needs to be change to getting better and better. We don't want to see this sad accident happened again. We need to do something at least!

All visitors should passes NZ driving test.

I am sorry to hear the sad news. People from some countries use the opposite traffic rules. If they will stay in NZ more than 12months, it should be going through a whole text before driving.

Police should pay attention on driver licence check as well.

I strongly believe our laws need to change. If we killed people I other countries we would get tougher penalties & feel the government should stop living in denial that this is not a problem

They shouldn't drive on our roads unless they know the road rules. Have had a test and passed, been issued with a T plate, informing drivers they are tourist. If they cause a death, do the time... What is so special about her, she took a life...

I came to this country from the UK, and even though the rules are similar to get by I believe there are enough differences to make some kind of test necessary.

damn right anyone who wants to drive our roads should be able to prove they are capable of driving safely. if not a full test and issue of nz licence at least an evaluation of being able to operate a vehicle safely and competently
