Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest has, like all the faculties of USAMVB, an assembly made up of elected teachers and students. This assembly of representatives of the members of the faculty constitutes the Council of the Faculty (Consiliul Facultăţii de Medicina Veterinara). This Council meets several times during the academic year (currently by zoom) to deal with quite diverse topics. During these meetings, decisions that concern all students are taken after votes. Unfortunately, among the 8 students currently in the Council, all come from the Romanian section and only from this section because only students of this section can now elect representatives in this chamber of decision. I consider this is an important problem of representativeness and a democratic gap to be filled. Let us notice that within 2 years, students from the foreign language sections of the FVMB will represent ~20% of the student population. It seems abnormal to me that such a large proportion of the faculty cannot participate in the decision-making process and be represented. If you share that point of view, please do not hesitate to sign this petition. If necessary, it will permit to objectively display the position of FVMB members on this subject.

Thank you!

Updates

March 3, 2021

I have finished drafting the formal request to the Faculty Council detailing the current lack of representation for international students. This document will be submitted to the Dean's office once I finalize the review of our policy proposals.

The administration has acknowledged the current petition volume and requested a formal meeting to discuss the voting bylaws. I am currently drafting a briefing document that outlines the specific language changes needed to ensure foreign language section representation in the Council.

Being here as an international student is hard enough without feeling like our opinions dont count during council meetings. change is needed.

its honestly ridiculous that the international students have no say in how things are run here. we pay the same tuition and deserve to be heard.

Finally someone said it. The current system is so outdated and unfair to everyone in the english section.

Agreed. Every student should have a vote regardless of what section they are in.
