Folsom ARC Neighborhood Zoned for San Juan Schools

Also, please note that Folsom City taxes that are paid by this neighborhood actually have gone to Folsom Schools. I received the following piece of info from the FCUSD office: "This takes us to 1992. Prior to school districts being able to create school facility improvement districts, the City of Folsom passed a $42.6 million bond (Measure J) to help fund the construction of school facilities in the City of Folsom. The bond funds were controlled by the City. All residents of the City of Folsom were responsible for repayment of the bond, including those residents residing in the City of Folsom but within the San Juan Unified boundary."

I approve this petition and have sent notice to many neighbors who are also supporting this issue.

I have lived in the South American River Canyon of Folsom since 1984. We were assured of a choice of both school districts: San Juan or Folsom. I expect and want that choice to live on for my address.

We have lived on Burnt Creek since 1984.  We were told then that our street had a choice between the Folsom High School and schools in the San Juan District.  We live in Folsom, support the businesses, take pride in our community and want it to continue to be a location of high quality and high standards.  This includes attending FOLSOM schools, retaining our FOLSOM zip code of 95630, NOT giving up OUR water or other necessities to live.  BIG BUSINESS DOLLARS are attractive to those seeking POWER rather than a good quality of life.  I do not intend to see our wonderful neighborhood go downhill.  Folsom schools rank high and add to the value of our homes.  PLEASE listen to us on this side of the river.  We are not stepchildren of Folsom and in fact were one of first of the 'newer' developments.  

I've been working on this too! Need to make sure San Juan will release us as well. Current lines were drawn prior to our housing development, and open IDT years have expired. Heard we have a new Folsom superintendent. I'm in touch with CA Dept of Ed on this too. Let's connect and make it happen!

Please allow our neighborhood children to attend the same schools. They shouldnt be split this way, just needs to be rezoned. Thanks, John Flegal

We live in ARC South and we hope to send our kids to Folsom schools (not San Juan).

As Folsom homeowners and taxpayers we should be zoned for Folsom schools.

I think it is absurd that I LIVE IN FOLSOM, not Orangevale and my children are not allowed to go Folsom schools.

This needs to be resolved for these families.

I grew up in American River Canyon South and went through the Folsom school system K-12. Thanks to the world class programs offered in Folsom, I was set up for success in college and after. Allow Folsom children the chance to be educated in Folsom.

If we pay Folsom taxes we should be in Folsom school district. Especially since our neighborhood has been here much longer than the South of 50 project.

I am a property owner in Folsom across from the Gold Creek bridge. All Folsom residents should be able to attend Folsom schools!

These students from ARC need to attend schools in the Folsom unified School District!

Thank you for your support, James. However we were very careful not to say FCUSD taxes, because we are very aware we don't get a say or get to contribute to those. We do pay Folsom city taxes, because we are Folsom City residents and should have the rights and privelages of everyone else in Folsom. As a parent of 3 students currently in FCUSD Schools, and a property owner in 2 homes, one within FCUSD boundaries and one in ARC Sount in San Juan boundaries. I campaigned vigilantly for measure G to improve our schools, but was unable to vote on it. I would welcome that chance, whether or not my children are still school age or not. I'm hoping, if nothing else, this gets us the written privelages we had when I purchased this home in 2010 and was assured that my children who were all 3 already in the FCUSD school system would be GUARANTEED a spot they already occupied in FCUSD schools. The same spots that we are now being told will be given to new residents moving in South of 50 because they aren't building new schools to accommodate them ahead of the current inter district transfers who are already there.

This is crazy. ARC is part of Folsom and has been for years.

Current Folsom residents should go to Folsom schools. This issue is wrong. The new development areas should be required to go elsewhere for school.

All Folsom families should be accommodated in Folsom schools.

I support the petition. However a correction of the rhetoric needs to be made and that is that, property owners West of ARC Dr. do not pay school taxes to the Folsom Cordova School District. We pay them to the San Juan School District. It has been this way for more than 35 years. However it is also a fact that students in this area have been allowed to go to Folsom Schools all that time. So I do support the continuation of that, but lets be accurate about what School District gets our taxes! Also, to have any weight, your petition needs to be signed by property owners not residents. And, it needs to be sent to both School Districts if you ever want a change of the boundaries.
