Folsom ARC Neighborhood Zoned for San Juan Schools

We live within the Folsom City Limits, therefore our children should be allowed to attend Folsom Schools without question.

I believe if you live in Folsom City limits, your children should attend Folsom schools!

It is so valuable for children who live in a neighborhood to be able to attend the same schools, which further strengthens a community.

If our address says folsom our children should be able to attend folsom schools.

Everything in this petition applies to me and my family of four kids; we live on Oak Rock Circle in ARC south-west and have attempted to attend Carl Sundahl but we were denied two years ago. We live in and spend all of our money in Folsom. Our property taxes go to Folsom and to a school we are not allowed to attend. My kids currently attend a San Juan school much further away from my house and neighborhood and the chances of my kids getting into their open enrollment lottery system for "choice" middle schools and high school is not good. They will be forever disconnected from their neighborhood friends and community and even current elementary school friends who will have priority at their neighborhood schools. Our family has been displaced and the City of Folsom and its school district needs to take responsibilty for its residents.

Please allow us to be in folsom school dist. that is why we moved to this neighborhood and paid 1% property taxes on $495,333 sale price.

We live in Folsom for MANY wonderful reasons. Just to name a few, the beautiful river and bike paths, the lake, historic Sutter Street and GREAT SCHOOLS! It is a crime to deny a part of a Folsom neighborhood the right to go to Folsom schools. I agree that this makes no sense what so ever and needs to be changed!

For 20 years we had to go thru an Interdistrict Transfer for our 3 daughters., We moved here before the district changed the boundary and were very disappointed when our oldest daughter started school and found that the border lines were moved.. MADE NO SENSE. We paid Folsom taxes and our family life and relationships were in Folsom, still are. This is a area that has not had proper representation. We don't vote on any propositions in SJUSD. We vote for Folsom Propositions!! Rezone us back to where we belong..

Our boundaries need to be changed permanently, so we don't have to "beg" to be allowed to go to Folsom schools!

I went through something very similar in San Jose with my daughter. We bought a house in the Santa Theresa neighborhood so she could attend that school. When we went to register for school, we were told , she would have to attend another school much further away.This is nuts.!!

It's about time

It's time for this to change. We've lived here since 1985 and our two daughters needed inter-district transfers every year. We moved to Folsom for Folsom schools!

I am totally against how the school district has divided our neighborhood, just ridiculous when we live in Folsom and pay Folsom taxes. Our children should be going to Folsom schools and not have to petition

My daughter was fortunate many years back to be able to get an out of district pass to attend Folsom High School. We chose the area specifically so that she could participate in the Folsom High School’s Music Program, since it is one of the best in the state. How shocked and disappointed we were when we found out that ARC was divided almost completely down the middle, between Folsom-Cordova S. D. and the San Juan Unified S.D. We were “on the wrong side of the tracks” so to speak! What!? I live in the city limits, I pay taxes to the city, I shop and support hundreds of vendors in this city, and I expected that my children would go to city of Folsom schools. Luckily back then, the school crowding was not an issue, and my daughter ended up being in the very first graduating class of the then brand new Folsom High School. I understand that now, with overcrowding and more expected, that it would not likely be the case. We would have ended up having to move in order to get her into the schools, and now with the build-out of the South of 50 project, it will only get worse. Let’s all sign this petition and get this stupid zoning issue fixed as it should have been for the last 30 years! Why should future kids living in homes not yet even built, have the priority over existing famiies that have been in the neighborhood, or living in neighborhoods that have existed since the 1980’s!
