There is an interesting post by Brian Cox on the Can'tFindMyPast Facebook page where he argues that the granting of the rights to FMP could be illegal because of a breach of competition law. The National Archive gave FindMyPast 'exclusive' rights to publish the data and that allows them to trade unfairly. The monopoly position that FMP now hold over the data means that they could charge whatever they like to customers without any commercial pressure to improve the quality or accuracy of the data or levels of service, or value for money.

My subscription states "unlimited access to ALL records on this site" and does not state "unlimited access to ALL records on this site except the 1939 register" Breach of contract, misleading terms, and they've denied me a refund even though my sub only started 19-10-2015 and is within the 14 cooling off period. PURE GREED in my opinion

I think FMP are trying to rip honest people off with what they are going to do!

I think it's greedy to charge for this, especially for present members. Why does there have to a charge, no ones actually told us

The annual subscription is not insubstantial and this new data should certainly be included in that subscription.

By withholding pricing information to access the 1939 National Register many many people like me have been duped into taking out annual subscriptions in the belief this would allow us to view all records available on the website. Who do you think you are magazine online were reporting that the Register would be available as part of that subscription. The information was corrected a few days later. I have used my subscription for one week, have no intention to pay extra to view the Register and have requested a refund for the unused portion of my subscription. I wholeheartedly support this petition.

World subscriber for many years and extremely dismayed at the charging scale. No real mention of this when promoting "1939" launch. Will consider further use of site and subscriptions dependant on FMP's next move.

Appalling underhand tactics FMP! Blog dated 11 March 2015 "Introducing the 1939 Register, only on Findmypast" clearly states ".....we're able to give you exclusive access to this incredible document.....". I repeat, GIVE. This will have undoubtedly enticed people into buying or renewing subscriptions in the belief that access to the register was to be included. Shame on you FMP for announcing these exorbitant extra charges at such a late stage.

Was thinking of Joining for the 1939 register, but after it was announced extra charges would apply, I decided against it.. too Expensive!

Far too expensive. When you pay an annual subscription you assume it covers everything.
