WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, WOULD LIKE TO BRING YOUR ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM, WITH RECOMMENDATION(S): A teacher at Marianna Middle School in Florida used a racial epithet to describe presidential candidate Barack Obama. He has been suspended without pay for 10 days, transferred to the Jackson County Adult Education program, required to write an apology letter to his students, and must attend diversity and sensitivity training. We therefore recommend: The Florida Department of Education Office of Professional Practices immediately investigate to find out the facts If he is found guilty of using a racial epithet, then he is to be immediately fired and his education license permanently revoked.
