The Great Lakes, the lakes, rivers, streams and ground waters that feed them are globally, spectacular freshwater seas. We must protect these waters as an example of world leadership, international and economic security, and ecological stewardship.

We must protect the water rights of millions of American and Canadian citizens living with the Great Lakes Basin whose livelihoods ,drinking water,f arming, recreation and business depend upon the reasonable and sustainable use of this magnificent ecosystem.

We are counting on your vote to pass H.R 551. Plug the leak in the compact by removing the "water as a product" exemption! this is a major gap in the ban on exports and diversions of the Great Lakes. HR 551 will prevent international interests and corporations from claiming or challenging state and federal regulations under international treaties trade laws like NAFTA, that unlimited amounts of water can be sold or exported out of the Great Lakes Basin.
